Martin Miller collects found objects, metal and weathered timber and uses them to create his appealing idiosyncratic work.
An imaginative artist, he also has a wide and varied experience of both three-dimensional and graphic design including book jackets and children’s book illustration for Blackwell’s Publishers.
When he came to Dorset from Oxfordshire he lived in Beaminster in an old property which had once been the village garage, sawmill and smithy. He began to make sculpture using pieces of old metal he dug up from his garden and timbers from the derelict sawmill. His studio was in West Bay. His affinity for West Country harbours clearly inspires his boat sculptures.
Martin Miller now lives and works in South Somerset, where he continues to create sculpture from the well-ordered studio in his garden.
