Taught classically from the age of six, and a graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire, he is inspired by masters such as Benny Goodman and Oscar Peterson and the great jazz violinists Grappelli and Joe Venuti.
Guitarist Stuart Carter-Smith has a well-earned reputation as a top class Gypsy Jazz guitarist. As a teenager he fell in love with the music of Django Reinhardt, and his post-classical studies took him to work with some of the finest names in that genre both in the UK and overseas.
Guitarist Ben Travers was introduced to music by his classical guitarist father, and early influences could not have been more diverse – a melting pot of talents such as Preston Reed, Andy Timmons and Steve Lukather to name a few. Ben’s early performing work included stints in punk, rock and mainstream jazz.
