Poetry and Painting

Multi-talented Tim Cumming’s article on art and poetry is on The Arts Desk: http://www.theartsdesk.com/visual-arts/art-and-poetry-image-makers

Tim Cumming’s exhibition in Sladers Yard Licensed Cafe brings together his poems and paintings for the first time.  Each painting has a poem married with it. The poems are printed on tracing paper and mounted on poplar boards made by designer Petter Southall, who converted the space, made all the furniture and shows his one-off studio furniture in the galleries.  Tim Cumming is a music journalist (The Independent among other publications), acclaimed poet (his 5th collection, The Rapture published by Salt, is available at Sladers Yard and all good bookshops), film-maker and painter.

How rare it is to be able to work in so many media.  Hear him perform his poetry surrounded by his paintings, accompanied by one of his favourite bands, Three Cane Whale on Saturday 18 January.

But visit first and snap up one of his affordable and beautiful Dorset paintings, or three with a poplar board of poems…
