A fantastic opportunity to hear famous Brazilian ten-string guitarist Marco Campos play his mellow melodic take on the joyful Brazilian music he writes with the massively talented duo Incandescendo (Felix Gibbons and Emily Burridge).

Marco Campos and his ten string guitarMarco Campos has become a major player in the musical scene in Brazil, as a soloist and as a musical director for prominent artists. Creator of numerous spectacles in Brazil, he has written scores for theatre, ballet and movies which have won several prizes in Brazil and abroad. His work shows a modern approach to composition, based on Brazilian rhythms, as jongo, frevo, choro, samba, bossa-nova and baião.

Marco Campos has performed throughout the world.

Percussionist FELIX GIBBONS lived in Brazil for more than 10 years playing with many different bands and musicians. Internationally acclaimed as a percussionist, he specialises in the distinct rhythms of Brazil and Latin America. These dance around and enhance the melodic sounds of cellist EMILY BURRIDGE whose talent for improvisation has been honed to spontaneous perfection by the demands of extensive top flight session work. Emily and Felix have worked and recorded alongside a host of musical luminaries including George Michael, Roger Daltry, Jools Holland, Olodum, Peter Gabriel, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento and many more.

Praise for Incandescendo: Brazilian Post London 06/11/2012

“Thursday evening I was transported on an imaginary train journey through a warm, dazzling, sunlit green, lush and remarkable country, thousands of miles away, by the sublime sounds of Emily Burridge, cellist, composer, performer and producer, with percussionist Felix Gibbons at the Bolivar Hall in London’s Fitzrovia, as part of the Festival of the Arts for Brazil and Ecuador”.

Here is a documentary film  about Marco made by Brazil’s TV Cultura.  If, like me, you are not completely fluent in Portugese you can fast forward to hear him play.
