Looking forward to both our events next week:

Elizabeth Bishop: Life and Poems

Talk with Readings by Graham Fawcett

Thursday 19 April 6.30pm

Tickets: £10 or £25 with dinner afterwards

Regarded as one of the foremost American poets of the 20th century, Elizabeth Bishop is a discovery many of us in UK have yet to make. A treat lies in store as Graham Fawcett tells the remarkable story of her life with readings of her most exceptional poems.

Janette Kerr PhD PPRWA RSA Hon Illustrated Talk

Friday 20 April 6.30 pm followed by dinner.

Tickets: £10 talk only or £25 with dinner

To accompany her fabulous solo exhibition of oil paintings, watercolour drawings and large scale charcoal and mixed media drawings, Janette Kerr will give an illustrated talk about her trip on a tall ship around the coast of Svalbard in the Norwegian High Arctic and her ongoing fascination with the waves and weather around the Isles of Shetland.

Janette’s ability to paint the sea as if one was about to be immersed in it, is the result of years of painting outdoors as close as possible to the waves in the wildest of weather.  She has also worked with oceanographers, meteorologists, scientists and artists in other media to deepen her knowledge and understanding of the history, culture and science of her subject matter.

Please phone 01308 459511 to book tickets.
