Mystery and wonder

Fred Cuming RA DLitt  Dawn Sea 2018 oil on board 30.5 x 61 cm 12 x 24 inches

Sladers Yard is full of mystery and wonder this Christmas. The artists in our current exhibition After Eighties, have all seen many Christmases and understand the still quiet magic at the turn of the year.

Alfred Stockham RWA RCA Going South III 2017 10 x 14 inches 25.5 x 35.5 cm oil on board

‘My aim is to create an underlying visual dynamic, a tension between the motifs in the painting so that the poetry of the subject and the poetry of the composition support each other. The real or observed world and the subconscious dream world both play their part to make a painting sing.’ Alfred Stockham

Robin Rae Hill Fort or Room with a View 2011 61 x 50.5 cm 24 x 20 inches oil on canvas

‘Now many decades later, Rae continues to paint with poetic vision. Metaphysical works, they fuse the surreal and the romantic, the narrative and philosophic.’ – Vivienne Light, 2008
