Recently returned from Greenland, and surrounded by paintings of Iceland and the Shetlands, Janette Kerr talks about her exceptional paintings and drawings of wind and weather in the Far North. Janette Kerr is an experimental contemporary artist whose work explores the boundaries between what is felt and what is seen in wild windswept places. She paints the weather, sea, light and wind, the more energetic the better, working both outside en plein air and in the studio. Her fascination extends to the people who live and have lived in the places she paints. Moving between abstraction and representation, she carries forward the ideas of the 18th Century Romantic Sublime in paintings that embody terrifying, thrilling confrontations with nature. Read more…

We are delighted to present an exhibition of recent work by the eminent ceramicist Gabriele Koch. 

Widely revered as a consummate artist in clay, Gabriele Koch’s ceramics are admired by collectors worldwide. Her search has always been for simplicity, restraint and beauty in her work. Recently she has been exploring new techniques and materials, finding ways to combine heavy black clay with white porcelain and working with texture and pale slips over dark clay to create new pieces that exude a compelling quietude. Read more and view the work…

Petter Southall FurniturePod and Wave

A selection of Petter Southall’s furniture can always be seen at Sladers Yard. Some is work he has made for sale from the gallery and some is kindly lent by its owners. Petter works mainly to commission and is happy to design new work for you or to suggest designs from over thirty years of designing and making his exceptional furniture. Please do ask us if you are interested in commissioning a piece of furniture or a larger structure. Petter also makes ambitious steam-bent components and structures for architects, artists and designers.
